SIL- Assistance with Daily Living and Community Access
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a service under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) designed to help individuals with disabilities live as independently as possible. It includes support with daily tasks like personal care, cooking, cleaning, and managing medications. SIL is typically provided in a shared living arrangement where participants live with other people with disabilities, fostering a sense of community while receiving the support they need.
Community Access services focus on helping individuals with disabilities participate in social, recreational, and community activities. This support enables participants to engage in hobbies, attend events, and build social connections, enhancing their overall well-being and inclusion in society. Community Access is tailored to individual needs and goals, promoting independence and active participation in the community.
